TOMS

In 2006, Blake Mycoskie was travelling through a village in Argentina where he found the local children had no shoes to protect their feet. In an effort to improve the lives of those children, Blake created TOMS, who would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. Blake was “overwhelmed by the spirit of the South American people, especially those who had so little” and he was instantly struck with the desire to something to help.

Later TOMS Eyewear was launched and with every pair purchased, TOMS help give sight to a person in need. What started as a company on a mission to improve lives has become a bigger One for One™ movement. When customers buy a TOMS product, they are doing more than purchasing something for themselves — they’re giving a child a mode of transportation, safety and a way to prevent disease. That is a gift that represents a commitment to personal and corporate social responsibility that we can all model.
