Choose Love
In 2015, when Josie Naughton, Lliana Bird, Dani Lawrence and Dawn O’Porter heard about children living among vermin at the refugee camp in Calais, they were shocked and saddened into taking action. They decided to raise funds, fill a van with supplies. and head over to France.
When they arrived, they realised people were living in unimaginable conditions. The temperature in Calais could get well below freezing and families were struggling to survive in tents and make-shift shelters. This was a defining moment for Josie, who immediately set up a warehouse and distribution centre to provide support for this humanitarian crisis.
In 2017, the Choose Love Shop popped up online and in major cities including London and New York. It became the world’s first shop to sell real products for refugees and displaced communities, making charitable giving personal and importantly, tangible.
Today Choose Love continues to grow and do whatever it takes to provide refugees and displaced people with everything they need, from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. The charity has raised millions to support refugees and created a movement of people putting love into action around the world.
