Clipper started in 1984 in a Dorset kitchen by tea-obsessed husband and wife team, Mike and Lorraine Brehme. They wanted to share their love of great tea with a promise of ethical sourcing and natural production. It began with just two chests of finest-quality Assam tea, sold to local health food shops and cafes.

Ten years later Clipper became the UK’s first Fairtrade tea company. In 2018 they became the world’s first tea company to switch to plant-based, biodegradable, non-GM and unbleached teabags. Fast-forward to the present day and Clipper is the world’s largest buyer of Fairtrade tea, supporting over 114,000 producers and their families around the globe.

They’ve long since outgrown the kitchen, but all Clipper tea is still blended at their factory in Beaminster, Dorset. This story is a fine blend of many firsts. Clipper still believes that every cup of tea counts, and their quest for quality and attention to detail is matched only by their desire to always do the right thing.
