ODDBOX
The ODDBOX story begins in Portugal, at a food market filled with ugly yet delicious fruit and veg. This got founders, Deepak Ravindran and Emilie Vanpoperinghe, thinking about why we only see the same perfectly shaped fruit and veg on our supermarket shelves. So, what happened to all that produce that didn’t qualify in the supermarket beauty stakes? They were appalled to find out that most of it got wasted.
In the UK alone, 20–40% of fruit and veg is discarded before it has even left the farm, as supermarkets deem thousands of tasty goods ‘too old’, ‘too big’, ‘too small’ or ‘too ugly’ to sell. Determined to battle food waste, Deepak and Emilie visited farms, talked to producers and came up with the idea for ODDBOX — rescued fruit and veg delivered straight to our doorsteps.
Since ODDBOX began fighting waste, 6,440,049 kg of fruit and veg has been rescued, 806,733,399 of water has been saved, and 8,761,545 kg of CO2e emissions prevented. Buy direct from the farms and help to save the planet.
